The incident of September 11, 2001 made the federal government of America to think that how such an attack occurred in the territory of America. This thought led a way towards rethinking of how to prevent such an attack again by terrorists. Hence an introductory legislation of The United States Department of Homeland Security was presented by Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) and Sen. Arien Specter (R-PA). Though the Bush government rejected it but the democratic members of the senate kept on pressing this. At last in June 2002, President Bush accepted the proposed legislation by Sen. Joe Lieberman and Sen. Arien Specter and changed his decision. Hence the foundation of The United States Department of Homeland Security was made by pulling together various governmental and federal units and departments into a freshly created Department of Homeland Security, led by Tom ridge former Republican governor of Pennsylvania (Haulley, 2006).

The United States Department of Homeland Security is an important governmental department towards the security of the homeland and its people. Department of Homeland Security has a vital and central mission: to make sure the security of its nation and people from any threat and terrorist attacks. This particular work is required with high level of dedication of more than 200 thousand employees in jobs that vary from chemical facility inspector to cyber security, emergency response to aviation and border security.
