Peter Weir who is the director of the film states that when it comes to the concept of the film, the film is not a reality. The director specifically believes in the fact that the film is future oriented and believes that it is taking place in 20 years or so in the future since he believes in the fact that the media is moving towards a time where there will be new schedules and new ideas that will; aid in grabbing attention from the audiences and at the same time will also aid them in acquiring more TRP's. This can only be done via the interfering into the lives of the general public. The media of the future will; be more interested in filming the lives of the general public which will be a source of entertainment and spice to the public in general.

Narratio

Truman Burbank is said to be the main character in the movie that is being watched at all times. Every second, from the day he is born, is being watched upon. He turned 30 and it is then when the turning point in his life comes based on which the whole movie is dedicated on. The Truman show is said to be a film that has become one of the popular movies of all times. Truman Burbank resides in a town that is picture perfect and is known as the Sea heaven that is home to the main character which in reality is a gigantic soundstage. He has friends and family and the kind of friends and family are actors in reality. Every moment he lives is said to be watched by thousands of individuals by the hidden cameras. General Narratio

This show in the movie was developed by Christof. The boy he adopted at the time of infancy lives in a world that is said to revolve around solely. The kind of relationships he made from the time of birth to the time he grows 30 are totally fake. The kind of profession he has and the kind of work he does is also said to be totally fake and is of interest to the audiences around him. His world is tweaked based on the TRP's that his show gets. He has become a star of the reality show and he is unaware of the popularity he possesses. The worst part is the fact that he is unaware of the fact that his life is being scrutinized by the audiences and in an unreal world. Besides the audiences his world is controlled by the production crew of the television.
