The Systems Development Life Cycle and the Nurse Informaticist
How Lifecycle Is Utilized in the Organization
The process is more commonly known as the software development cycle. It comprises of more or less standardized six steps. In the first step, the overall analysis of the requirements is being carried out. Then there is the eventual design that is needed to be implemented at the organizational level, testing is the phase that follows the design. Human capital is being trained keeping in mind the requirements of the organization and finally there is the implementation and maintenance of the overall support system (Anderson & Sensmeier, 2011). The most important that has to be kept in mind as far as the role of informatics nurses is concerned as they are the one who are carrying out the many roles within an organization. This life cycle thus provides great utility to the organization (Crosson et al, 2011).
Effectiveness of the Overall System
In some of the organization, this cycle can be used to great effect and it has much strength as compared to some of the other systems. IT provides more control to the enterprise and makes the processes easier to follow (Bayer et al, 2010). Some of the larger projects can also be carried out using this overall system as mentioned due to the greater control it provides to the organization (Brown, 2010).
The system is very efficient due to the fact that the eventual maintenance can be relatively very hassling free. Another way due to which it can be very effective to the organization is that user input in these systems is very well defined and thus it can be always augmented (Choi & Kim, 2012).
