Introduction

Russia is a nation that has seen war and conflict for decades, and due to this has suffered in its once held position as the world's superpower. It has faced a decline not only in its economic status but as a nation as well, in terms of population, diversity and so on. Nonetheless, the nation has had a huge role to play in the modern history of human beings, and not just because of the war and peace that seems to be associated with it. Being a nation that was once looked upon for conflict resolution among current international affairs and other political aspects of world leaders, Russia faced a decline in its position due to various factors. In this paper, I will be analyzing what the role of war and prolonged peace has been on this nation, and how its position has changed around the world.

World War I is known to be a modern war and has had a huge impact in the turn of events in the last century, and Russia has been at the centre of it. This is thus a clear reminder of how strong its role has been in the events that have taken place in history since then. The war was fought through machine guns, airplane, tanks and so on, and the troops would openly march on open lands and face said weaponry which led to the implementation of trench warfare during wars. Russia has had a role to play in some aspect of war since the first world war, thus it cannot be said that it has remained on the back foot. Prolonged war zones and conflicts within political parties and rogue activists as well as separatist parties had covered Russia for a long time which led to its current state. Currently, there is a severe decline in the population of Russia, which is bought on by an onslaught of disease as well as military threats and political factors that are causing people to move.

There are several demographic challenges that are surely being worsened by the Foreign Affairs of Russia and how they are being dealt with by the right authorities. The U.S Secretary of Defense recently spoke of the defense strategy of Russia and how it seems to be raising the problematic nature of the state. Not only are there demographic issues, but internal social instability is a major factor affecting the nation, being directly related to prolonged state of war and next to no international correspondence. Apart from this, the economy that is facing a global crisis is a factor in effects of decline in Russia as well, but that cannot be held on to Russia only as it is a global concern stemming from other super powers as well.
