The Role of Scientist

Introduction

Frankenstein is a novel written by English writer and poet of the period of romanticism, Mary Shelley. The scientist played a negative role in making the life of his creation as demonic being. The discovery by Victor was not a fully formed human being rather this experiment produced a deformed and defiled creature resembling human form. The repulsion of creation was so great that even the creation itself despised the sight of its own self. The one to be blamed for the repulsion of creation is not the creature but its creator. The creature is brought back to life against his wishes and choice. In fact, it had no idea about its own identity each body part contains novel genes. This research paper analyzes the role delineated by the scientist.

Victor Frankenstein- The Scientist

Victor Frankenstein is a fictional character that appears in the novel as a scientist. He is a native of Geneva, and during his studies, he did research that led him to create an unusual life. He made a creature without a name consisting of several pieces of human corpses and with repulsive appearance (Ackroyd, pp.45). The creator and the creature maintained a relationship of love and hate. During his time in college, he becomes ambitious, and it invades a frenzy scenario that led him to ponder to create anything from his experiment to create a living being. He unleashed upon an unsuspecting society being a self-proclaim genius. He wanted to create a new race of humans as he was not fully aware of the consequences. After seeing the consequences, he tries to destroy the same creation. He was not able to control his ego, and he always wanted to justify his fashion of thinking. Frankenstein as a character was highly inclined towards the aspiration for knowledge, which was not limited to the ethical considerations.

Transforming Interest

Victor spent many years to study human anatomy and body structure, he experimented on the corpses. At first he thought his experiments and evaluation to be beneficial for the mankind, but he shifted his focus to personal achievement and gaining notoriety. He dreamt beyond self belief that he will surpass the present scientific discoveries and give world strange phenomena. He thought about giving world unknown powers and unfold the unearthed mysteries to the future generations (Burgan & Dennis, pp. 69). At first his motives were at small scale, but he thought them small and menial tasks. Instead of focusing on his concrete objectives he went on to create a full human being out of the knowledge he had gained. His egoistic personality did not think beyond personal glory instead it created a gruesome creature without finding out the means to control it. He had collected the best body parts, but the final outcome was gruesome.
