Introduction

The other sister is a story about a mentally disabled girl who gets over her weaknesses and turns them into her strengths. This romantic comedy was produced by Gary Marshall, an expert of its kind, since he must Pretty Woman, Frankie and Johnny and Just Married.Carla Tate is a young woman struggling with mild mental retardation. She was sent to special education school by her mother as her mother wanted best for her. After several years of special education at a private school, she managed to overcome most of her difficulties and become more autonomous, but could not get rid of her mother's overprotection. Back home after having graduated, she gets full of dreams and ambitions, her need to do personally wanting to express them like never before. However, her mother never wanted to her to be independent because of her health issues. In this drama there is comedy blended with touch with romance (Morton, 2004).

When she falls in love for the first time, Carla defies her mother to prove that, despite appearances, she is sufficiently independent to become a responsible adult, worthy of love and be loved. Embarking on a journey of discovery, Carla and Danny, her new boyfriend, leave together in search of answers to the toughest challenges that life brings us and proving that sometimes a life behind very ordinary can ultimately become an extraordinary achievement.
