Abstract

The murder mystery of black dahlia revolved around a 21-year-old girl who was killed on the night of January 15th, 1947. Her name was Elizabeth and she wanted to become an actor. Her body was badly mutilated and had signs of torture (Wisegeek, 2012). No one knows the reason behind her killing and murder. Why was she tortured before the murder and killed, no one knows about the facts and reality. The murderer left many clues for the investigators but no one was able to solve the mystery. Later on few people also turned themselves in as the murderers but no one was entertained. No investigation was carried out to solve the murder mystery. Additionally there was a doctor who claimed that he had evidence regarding the murder of the girl but no one was willing to listen to him. His son also claimed to provide proofs after the doctor died but in vain. Many people suggested that many powerful people might have gotten affected by the opening of this case and that is why they did not want to investigate it any further. The main aim of this research paper is to find the possible reasons behind the killing of this girl and solutions that may help in resolving this murder mystery.

She was born in the time where it was tough to gain popularity and earn a nice living and career. Her town was full of pretty faces and there was no value given to them. She was seen to be going out with different people every other night. Who know that it could have been one of those people she went out with? Steve Hodel was only 5 years old when Elizabeth was killed on the streets. He resolved many cases and murder mysteries but this case haunted him even after he was retired. The main reason behind it was the involvement of his father with the mystery, which he found after a long time.
