Shirley Jackson (December 14th of 1919 - August 8 of 1965) short story writer and novelist United States specializing in the genre of horror. His best known story is possibly The Lottery ("Lottery", 1948, published in Castilian by Ed Edhasa, 1991), which suggests the existence of a grim and frightening underworld in the small towns of the American deep. The story was published on June 28, 1948 in the magazine The New Yorker and led to hundreds of shocked letters from readers.
