Introduction

Health and wellbeing is an important asset of healthy community. Despite of enhancements made in the interventions to provide better quality health services to community, many health related determinants have wavered. The determinants have faltered because of urbanization, environmental changes, adaption of altered sexual relations, artificial food production, disparities in socioeconomic status and increase in mobility and trade. This has decreased the overall life expectancy in the world especially among ethnic groups (Crimmins et.al, 2004).

Discussion

The purpose of this letter is to address health related issues that the African American community has been facing and how in the midst of survival and wellbeing this community has suffered drastic and chronic diseases that resulted in mortality and morbidity among people.

Health Related Issue Faced By African American Community

Of all the communities, the African American community has faced most health related issues. The prevalence of diseases is observed more in women of this particular community then in men (McMichael & Butler, 2006).

The major issue that leads to the prevalence of deadly and chronic diseases is the occupational lifestyle of this community. Lifestyle related diseases occur due to daily habits of people and unsuitable rapport between them and their environment. The factors that contribute to diseases in the community are bad food habits, physical inactivity especially in women and disturbed biological clock (Sharma & Mujamdar, 2009).

Impact of Occupational Life style on African Americans

According to the stakeholder of the community, researches have been made to estimate the degree of occupational lifestyle impact in the health of people. The researches show that there is corroborative substantiation that diet and lifestyle has a major role in the prevalence of chronic diseases in humans (Sharma & Mujamdar, 2009). African American is largely subjected to health disparities, poverty which is why they tend to live in poor and unhealthy environmental conditions. This increases the chances of prevalence of diseases in them. Black women are not physical activity which is why they are susceptible to diseases like obesity, CVD, and breast cancer (McMichael & Butler, 2006).

Conflicting Views Surrounding the Issue

The government has been working stringently to eradicate health disparities in the country. New Acts and laws have been introduced to resolve the issue. But much has been done to resolve the issue on social and political basis. The community even after the Acts passed in 2010 still suffers ...
