The Information Systems

Introduction

A collection of data organization, hardware and software used in various levels of management, like, problem solving, transacting, monitoring, forecasting and controlling, is known as an information system. In various fields, to facilitate the organization in hastening their process, conversion of data into information is performed by these systems (Laudon, 2010, pp. 5550. In the daily routinely tasks, these systems aid executive level, middle level and operational level managers. In today's world, people from different fields of business organisations use information systems.

The Wal-Mart incorporation in the different department and management levels, with the use and adaptation of disparate information systems is highlighted in this paper. Chains of a large warehouse stores and discount departmental stores are run by Wal-Mart, which is also an American multinational retail corporation. According to the Fortune Global 500 list in 2012, Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world, world's third largest public corporation and has over two million employees, which makes it the biggest private employer in the world.

The Walton family controls the Wal-Mart, which makes it remain a family-owned business and forty eight percent stakes in Wal-Mart are owned by them. Fewer than fifty five names, in fifteen countries, eight thousand and five hundred stores are of Wal-Mart. Including Puerto Rico and the fifty states, in the United States, the company operates under the Wal-Mart. It operates as Best Price in India, Seiyu in Japan, Asda in the United Kingdom and Walmex in Mexico. Its ventures are highly successful in China, South America and the United Kingdom.

These countries look after the company's operations, which is due to the contradictory results emerged from the investments of Wal-Mart outside North America (Soderquist, 2005, pp. 123). With the help of their cutting edge information systems, Wal-Mart maximizes its data and converts it to useful information. With the use of these systems, it managed to maximize profits and minimize cost.
