Introduction
Obesity in children of young age has turn out to be a foremost alarming health apprehension in almost every part of the world. However, in United States of America, the quantity of obese children between 2-5 years of age has witnessed a considerable increase since last thirty years (Green & Riley, 2012). According to the (CDC, 2004) after analyzing the data gathered from national health center and survey conducted by (NHANES) national health and nutrition examination center from 1990-2005 percentage of overweight preschool children in USA has increased from 5 to 14 percent.
American academy of pediatrics in the year 2003 has use overweight to describe the children having the body mass index (BMI) more than their standard BMI of their height, gender, and age (Heinberg et al, 2010). Further, according to the American academy of pediatrics practically one out of every three children in USA is at extreme risk of becoming overweight children as their BMI will be in the range of 85 - 95 percentile, and almost one in six children in USA are overweight having the BMI of more than 95 percentile.
Meanwhile, obesity is not restricted to children it can affect to people of every age group, class and race. However, obesity in young children belonging to poor socio economic and minority groups is unexpectedly very high. For instance, in one of the study conducted by Pediatric Nutritional Surveillance disclosed that around 17 percent of Hispanic and 17.4 percent of American Indian children below five years of age ate suffering from overweight as compare to children from white community (Skouteris et al, 2010). Toddler stage of children is known the process of transformation in feeding technique from dependent to independent feeding, and in this early stage of life a child fondness with particular kind of food develop and this fondness remain forever.
On the other hand, according to medical expert's toddler stage is considered as the most critical path for controlling and monitoring the BMI, and is known as the most favorable period in which occurrence of obesity disease in children can be prevented by encouraging them to participate in physical activity and highlighting the benefits of health intake. Several factors have paved the way of prevailing alarming issues of obesity in children, for instance, obesity in children might be because of genetic deficiency or inheritance from parents, on the other hand, existing literature suggest that internal environmental factors of families also plays an important part in influencing and appraising child unexpected increase in size (Sola et al, 2010).
