The Impact of Social Networking on Modern Business for People Leaving the Military and Joining the Workforce
Abstract
It is imperative to realize the growing potential of social networking, particularly for military veterans who are seeking to transit from military from civilian life and are interested in seeking employment. The paper discusses how military veterans should be able to succeed in garnering a respectable civilian employment through the use of social networking.
Introduction
Social networks are becoming more and more important in the field of promotion of sites and brands, as well as in large-scale advertising campaigns. This is indicated by statistical studies carried out on a regular basis, including a recent study of social networking by the American marketing agency - Razorfish (Rheingold 2002). A recognized international expert on Internet advertising, Saster Mark, also has a similar opinion on the prospects of social marketing. Thus, according to the current trend, nearly half of all the users of social networks are ready to make purchases, starting mainly from information obtained from social resources. Experts believe that manufacturers simply have to take a moment to increase their presence in the virtual world through effective usage of social networks. It is imperative to understand that in order to achieve the desired result, focus of producers of goods and services should not be only limited to traditional advertising, but advertising and marketing campaigns should be thoroughly thought out and clearly focused on the user of a particular social network (Li 2008). According to a recently published study of the marketing agency - Razorfish, social network users are not afraid of advertising, but on the contrary, they acquire products based on advertising and recommendations from social networks. About 76 percent of respondents said that they did not protest against advertising on Facebook, MySpace or other resources of social orientation which they visit (Kaplan, Andreas, et al, 2010). 49 percent of respondents said that they made purchases based on the recommendations found on the social web-site. Experts believe that customers are looking for information, and companies simply want to give it the information to the consumers to the necessary extent and in decent quality through social networking.
