ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research study is to discuss areas of research associated with ESOL students and their acquisitions of the language arts skills through the use of Reader's Workshop. This literature review also serves as a resource to provide a better understanding of the various aspects that affect ESOL instruction, teachers and students. Immigrations and demographic patterns affect schools and communities, specifically regarding the services and support that they provide to ESOL students. These areas can be better be understood by looking at the importance of reading and various methods that are used to teach ESOL students the reading skills that they need to be successful. This review will also take a look at the CRCT and the ACCESS Tests, as they are used as assessment tools to gage the level of development in ESOL students.
