The Impact of Patient Satisfaction Before and After Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Abstract
This research paper aims to study the patient's satisfaction before and after implementation of EHR in primary care centers. This paper aims to understand the positive and negative consequences of implementation of EHR with the literature review. Moreover, this research paper gives an idea that EHR implementation is essential in providing quality health care. Results and limitations show that there is a need of strong research in this area.

The Impact of Patient Satisfaction before and After Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Introduction
Healthcare industry has advanced in order to provide quality healthcare to patients. Today, patient satisfaction is the primary focus of each healthcare industry. The main objective of this research it to conduct an investigation of patient satisfaction along with high quality of service that is provided prior to and following the EHR (Electronic Health Records) at some of America's Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) (El-Kareh, et al, 2009). For the purpose of research, a semi-structured questionnaire was prepared and the researchers conducted random sampling of nearly select 650 volunteers. The response rate was 70 percent. The age of majority of participants was between 20 and 35. There were 63% females and 82% were United States nationals. Before the EHR implementation, participant's disagreement related to doctor carefulness when conducting an examination, usages of medical jargon, explanations for administered drugs, and time dedicated to each patient was found to be more than 35%.
H0: Electronic Health Records will be beneficial for the patients due to its safety and quality measures.
Ha: Electronic Health Records will not be beneficial for the patients due to its safety and quality measures.
Background
With the passage of time, implementation of electronic health records has been increased but, there are very few studies to inform about the patients' satisfaction before and after implementation of EHR and also, patient-doctor relationship (Menachemi, and T. Collum, 2011). There are several researches conducted on the findings that physicians are playing an important role in providing quality health care to patients. Families are providing their feedbacks regarding their cure and EHR impacts on their health and, also comparison before and after implementation of EHR. Such encounters are recorded to facilitate the researchers in determining the key aspects of quality of healthcare by physicians. It also helps the physicians to receive feedbacks to different clinicians and managers about their performances and satisfaction about care which may not be possible and clear without traditional audit measures.
However, satisfaction of patients is not being studied with deep interest when considering the implementation of EHRs.
When discussing the studies conducted by Collum and Menachemi, we learn that numerous advantages can be derived by implementing EHRs because; it helps in improvement of clinical, organizational, and societal outcomes. Now, let us focus on the clinical outcomes which are enhancing the quality of healthcare when offered to patients in ...
