Introduction

It is a story of black people as there were many in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s. These black people work among whites for cheap wages because they are poor. Slavery was abolished since the end of the Civil War, but still segregation existed in southern states. This separation was between blacks and whites, and these laws prohibited blacks from attending the same schools as whites. Such rules implied that forbid a white befriend a black.
