The Great Tribulation

The term Great Tribulation or the Great Tribulation is in the Christian eschatology of the end-time emergency uses time and the creation of the world proceeds. The term used literally in the eschatological discourse of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 24.21 EU) and Revelation (Rev 7.14 EU). Tribulation is the Lutheran translation of the Greek (thlipsis - pressure, anxiety, and fear). This word occurs in the New Testament 45 times before to denote different types of need, for example, persecution, imprisonment, war, disease, hunger, but also fear and sadness.

The Great Tribulation of the end times, from that in Matthew (Mt 24 EU), Mark (Mk 13 EU and spoken of revelation) is a compression of all these troubles, a time of war and natural disasters as described. These include in particular the Seven Seals and the Apokalyptischen Reiter in Revelation.

Depending on the interpretation of eschatological texts, the Great Tribulation interpreted in different ways:

1. a characteristic time;

2. an event of the past (eg, persecution of Christian));

3. a church court of the Jews (the conquest of Jerusalem in 7));

4. an event, that will come, in the near or distant future - in this variant, the length of time usually given as seven years.

The latter perspective is of particular in millenarianism and sensationalism a pivotal role, both in theology and the minds of believers. It is within the millenarianism three design variations, the relationship between the large and tribulation rapture believers or the second coming of Jesus Christ of concern:

1.The faithful will start the Great Tribulation to Jesus Christ captured before - this view particularly widespread in sensationalism, and supported by the Left Behind series of novels more widely popularized;

2.The return of Jesus Christ ends the Great Tribulation - the Christians do all the time with the;

3.In a third variant, the Christians, after half the time, after three and a half years, slip away.

Several Christian authors describe only the second half of the tribulation as "Great Tribulation". It is thus distinguished between the "tribulation" (7 years) and the "Great Tribulation" (the last 3.5 years). The background is that the events described in the Bible are far more dramatic in the second half.

As Jesus spoke about the great tribulation, He put a lot of emphasis on the false prophets and deception. As a matter, of fact He only mentions war, famines and diseases once. He begins with a warning against deception, and ends with it with significant emphasis.

Deception has never been as great as it is today. There have never been this many false prophets who have gone into the world and deceived the so many nations as today. These people given a false hope in a false religion; they think all is well, but they deceived by the miracles, signs and lying wonders.
