Part One

A set of 85 articles named the Federalist Papers, outlined the philosophy and motivation of our founding fathers in the development of the Constitution. These articles published in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet between October 1787 and August 1788 were meant to influence the ratification and future interpretations of the Constitution. Federalist Papers No. 10 and No. 51 which were both written by James Madison are probably the most influential of the papers in the development of The Constitution.
