The Effects of Using Differentiated Instruction in the Classroom
Abstract
Individuality of the student is one of the major factors that lead to the problem of diversification. Every student has different interest and different way of understanding things. This differentiation results in creating a problem for teachers to deal efficiently with such different variety of students in a single classroom so that every student can learn the same content and can achieve the expected outcome. This is more complicated with the social, cultural and linguistic diversifications and results in the failure of students. This requires that a teacher must understand requirements of every student, in order to maximize potential of the students and to provide every student same opportunity to learn. These results in creating more frustration for students and these students cannot achieve positive results. Therefore, this study is focused to study the impact of differentiation instruction in the past and present practices and how this concept is discussed in the biblical context.

Chapter 1: Introduction
Teaching is a very complicated process that involves dealing with a variety of students from different backgrounds and diversification in their abilities. In a classroom, a teacher has to deal with a number of different students, and it is not possible for the teacher to pay individual attention to every student. Another major concern for teachers is that this diversification and variation is not only in one skill or ability of the students, but vary in different skills and abilities. Some students are good at writing skills, and some are good are reading, this creates more difficulties for teachers in such complex situations with further diversification in abilities, in these skills. Gangi (2011) quoted VanSciver (2005), "Teachers are now dealing with a level of academic diversity in their classrooms unheard of just a decade ago" (VanSciver quoted by Gangi, 2011, p.6).
This situation requires that teachers must adopt most suitable strategies to assist their students in improving their weak areas, with innovative teaching strategies and bring improvement in constructive learning opportunities (Gangi, 2011). In order to resolve this problem, various solutions were provided, for teachers and educators to deal with diversification in classroom. Differential instruction is the most effective technique that assists in dealing with different levels of students in a classroom with different abilities and learning skills. McBride (2004) stated "Differentiated instruction is vital to effecting positive change in student performance because the one-strategy-fits-all approach doesn't work in a real classroom" (McBride quoted by Gangi, 2011, p.6).
