This is also called as “Capital punishment”. It is a legal penalty and can be defined as a punishment given to a person for committing a capital crime. Capital Crime includes murder, rape, espionage, treason felony manslaughter and genocide. The criminal can lead to the death penalty if he has committed a crime from the listed crimes. Hanging, gas chamber, lethal injection, electrocution and firing squad are the methods used in the US for prisoner execution (Plocinski, 2011).

In the United States, several capital crimes also lead to the death penalty. There are 38 states in the US which are given the punishment of the death penalty. The ratio of this penalty is different in every state, but the main goal is to remove these horrible crimes from the society. Murder is one of the main capital crimes for which courts suggests punishment no other than the Death penalty (Plocinski, 2011).
This idea of the death penalty was evolved in the beginning of the eighteenth century. Later on, in the 19th century it was decided that Death penalty should be imposed on certain crimes and after the jury's recommendations it will be imposed. However, the Military and Government of US has made some amendments in the death penalty. This punishment has been given to many prisoners since many years so how can one say that it is not good. Countries in the world are using this punishment for deterring many serious crimes from the society.
The goal for implementing the death penalty is to prevent capital crimes and to give punishment to offenders for their serious crimes like murder so that no one can try to offense such crimes again.
