The Cub House also includes air source heat pump which helps in exhausting air for providing high amount of efficiency. The Cub House is comprised of solar PV panels with 41 m2. For the purpose of garden irrigation, rainwater harvesting system is also present in the designing of Cub House (Cub, n.d.).

Sustainable Housing

In today's rapidly urbanizing and changing world, the availability of affordable and adequate housing appears to be an important priority for each and every government. However, the housing concept needs an understanding to synergistically and effectively deal with the pressing problems of the urban divide, human and economic development, climate change and the slum prevention. The housing plays an effective role in attaining the goal of sustainable development. This can be presented and visualized by the concept of sustainable housing. The approach of sustainable housing in developing countries is yet to attain its required fame (Department for Communities and Local Government, 2012). It is unusual that cultural, social, economic and environmental features of housing are tackled there in an incorporated policy. In most of the developing situations, the housing system usually gives accommodation of deprived standards, in distant localities, with small consideration to the livelihood and lifestyle strategies of residents. Moreover, the fast development of housing systems creates increased carbon footprints as well as they produce many negative effects on the environmental conditions. Still, in majority of the developing regions, safe and decent housing development continues to be a dream for the majorities whereas government believes that the concept of affordable housing is only a social burden.

Sustainable cities can be developed with the help of establishing and commencing sustainable buildings. Sustainable housing figures out main considerations and concepts in order to support the concept of sustainable housing. The idea of sustainable housing gives a complete structure in order to design practical actions and policies for the implementation of sustainable housing. The sustainable housing in the modern world seeks to harmonize and improve the social, environmental, economic and cultural dimensions of the sustainability of housing. Hence, sustainable housing must handle social justice, affordability, economic, social justice and cultural impacts of housing in conjunction with the built environment solutions (Department for Communities and Local Government, 2012).
