Introduction

Cold war era was the result of difference between two types of nation namely Communist who believed in the theory of taking over the surrounding areas or countries under their rule by force and Democrats who believed in freedom and independence of its people and their rights. During the cold war era Soviet Union emerged as a Communist nation as it forcefully took under control the surrounding areas and regions and devoid the people of their right to freedom and independence. There were ideological and political difference between the leaders of two countries from a very long time but the problems began to surface after the end of World War II.

Discussion

The major difference between the two countries lied in their government and ruling system. United States had a transparent and fair system of elections for the selection of the leader or president. People had the right to vote or form political parties to take part in the elections. Additionally the American has the right of speech, freedom to express their views in press and of assembly. While the Soviet government system was a total contrast where people had no right of speech or to form political parties. Additionally united states wanted to introduce the concept of free trade between the countries without any boundaries while Soviet Union did not wanted to open its gates for international trade or influences. Each country was scared of nuclear attack from another and struggled for power and dominance in the regtion through its diplomatic efforts and foreign policie (Chung, 1979).

The basic threat to American citizens lied in the very basis of communism which was base on belief of invading countries forcefully. As the communism was spreading in major parts of the Europe, America was fearful of being invaded by the Soviet. ...
