The Breakup is a romantic comedy about a couple Brooke starring Jennifer Aniston and Gary starring Vince Vaughn. The happy couple brought the condo in high spirits to move forward, however, the endless confrontation led them to separate rooms and application of revenge tactics on each other. The couple try take avenge by methods suggested by family and friends and lead on to defeat the other half (Jason, 2006).
Discussion
The endless dispute only increases anger through outrageous advices by others and soon Brooke realizes that she is fighting more to save her relationship with Gary then the condominium. It is understood by a greater majority that communication in a relationship is very important, however, little emphasis is done on how to achieve it (Mensline.org, 2007). A healthy relationship requires negotiation, limits and communication. A negotiation process requires both couples to effectively take part in conflict resolution. A good way to achieve this is by listening to the other partner. This is where partner 1 speaks out and then partner 2 speaks out, after which partner 1 makes correction. This procedure is repeated with reversal of roles.
Initial Interactions
In the initial interactions of the movie, Brooke is preparing for a dinner party and Gary comes home from work and starts to play games. He does not lend a hand with the chores of the dinner party. He comfortably sits on the sofa and declares he just wants to relax. She specifically asks Gary to bring twelve lemons but he brought only three. He tries to run to the store to pick out the lemons or to put few in the centerpiece. However, Brooke is not happy with his suggestions. After the dinner she asks him to help cleanup with the dishes, but, Gary did not want to do it then and said he will do it in the morning (Murray, 2012). This inflames Brooke who starts ranting about Gary never appreciate what she does and Gary only says he wants to be left alone. This is the start of the movie 'The Break Up'. It is without a doubt that relationships are the best things in the world. They allow us to share our secrets, doubts with someone whom we can trust. There can be ups and downs in a relationship and it is best to work on them and try to handle the situation where the other person has importance. This has been reviewed in the movie as neither one of them wantsto leave their condo and bought them together.
