Introduction

The Book of 2 Kings is a sequence of the Book of 1 Kings, which continues the story of the kings of the divided kingdom (Israel and Judah). The Book of 2 Kings ends with the overthrow and deportation of the people of Israel and Judah to Assyria and Babylon respectively. This book continues the story of the two separate kingdoms, with the prophet Elisha to replace Elijah as God's witness, both of truth and grace. Other prophets also witnessed and suffered for their loyalty.
