Introduction

Changes from the revolution were taking place in Cuba, went against U.S. interests. The U.S. government and particularly the CIA were involved in organizing the invasion of Cuba, establishing relationship with the Cuban Brigade. The intended site for the landing of the invading troops was the Bay of Pigs. The Bay of Pigs Invasion, also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion was a military operation in which Castro troops, trained and directed by the CIA, invaded Cuba in April 1961 (Priestland, 2003). In the context of the Cold War the U.S. administration to the new Cuban government considered a serious threat, not only by having a system potentially so close ally of the Soviet Union, but because early on it became clear that the new leaders had intentions of supporting other revolutions that percolated communism in Latin America.

Purpose of Bay of Pgs

The purpose of the Bay of Pigs Invasion was to overthrow the Cuban government under Fidel Castro. The objective of the Bay of pigs was to overthrow the Castro government, and replace it with a pro American government. The objective was to use the ruse of anti communist Cuban rebels, rather than an outright invasion by the US. Castro was and remains a threat to the region and the USA, however only a mild threat since the collapse of Communism. Castro's government was very anti American and Cuba and the USSR supported communist Marxist movements in Central and South America resulting in decades of senseless fighting and bloodshed that continues to this day (Jean, 2004). The fundamental motive of the mercenary invasion of Bay of Pigs (1961) and other U.S. interference has been the sovereign decision of independence and social justice undertaken by the Cuban Revolution.
