Introduction

Modernization brings a drastic change in businesses and workplaces. This function, which previously, conducted manually, is now automated. Technology is minimizing the inherent element of human error, ensuing efficiency in every aspect of operating business of an organization. Technology is important in any modern workplace and can make a vast difference to the way your business operates, and how well your staff carries out their tasks. These days, an online presence, is also anticipated by customers and, therefore, is an essential component for businesses. New technology can not only speed processes up, or allow flexible new ways of working, but can transform how your business functions, and can often save you time and money. There are several ways that an innovative business can make use of technology. For instance, you could use advanced technology to create more environmental friendly and sustainable business practices, communicate and interact more effectively within an organization and in managing, developing and retaining ideas and internal knowledge (Scarbrough, Corbett, 1992).

Choosing Technology for your Business

However, it is always important to choose a suitable technology for your business. Wrong selection would result in increased costs and inefficiency, in business process. In order to assess the technological requirements of your business you need to answer questions like, Are staff getting stuck on less essential tasks? Are there ways of working faster or tasks that could be automated? Are you duplicating effort between different departments? Are your business needs or processes likely to change in the near future? How efficient are your current operations? Is your current technology going out of date or causing compatibility issues? Who is using your existing IT systems, and what are they doing? Once you have considered these questions, you should have a clear picture of any issues that could be solved by introducing new technology into your workplace (Murphy, Willmott, 2010). In this paper, I will consider the current technological preferences adopted by my current employer. Compare it to the technology in which I am interested to be adopted for better commencement of business operations.

Current Technological Attributes

The organization I am currently employed is a huge advertising company, comprising of variant departments, each involved in its own operations. The company provides media advertising to a number of its clients. These clients range from pharmaceutical to financial institution, from insurance companies to fast moving consumer goods. The company is providing advertising and marketing facilities on print and published media, broadcast and social media. Currently the organization is targeting innovate sources of advertising and marketing through text messaging and implying social media websites like Face book and Twitter, in order to grasp customer attraction for its clients. The performance of every department is satisfactory which accounts for overall organizational performance in comparison with the competition. The company's performance in the last year was remarkable; sales were increased by 20%, maximizing revenue generation of business.
