Technology and patient care

Introduction

Health care system has been rapidly developing from the past decade. With these rapid changes, there has been a marked increase in the development and adoption of new technology which has been working to improve the patient care process. However, this technology has been shown to exhibit some detrimental effects on the system as well. It is, therefore, necessary for the health care researchers to assess and evaluate the negative and positive factors of a new technology, and adopt in practice only if positive factors outweigh the negative factors.

The following paper has taken two technologies as an example and assessed their consumption and its affects ion the patient care process.

Discussion

Technology has been a significant milestone in achieving the recent goals and high standard health care inpatients. With the progression of the health care field, the technology has also been advanced. However, this technology also exhibits the negative factors that are encountered buy the health care system.

Health informatics

Health informatics refers to the modern system which incorporates the integrated performance of computerized system, information science and the health care science. This system involves the advanced machinery to be utilized in storage, reproduction and retrieval of health care information. The tools of this technology are the computers, information and communication systems and clinical guidelines (Eysenbach, 2000)
