In the year 2011, 47 % of the adults of America were the user of any social networking website like Twitter or Facebook. According to the research, it has been estimated that the number of Facebook users became almost 1 billion and the users of Twitter are found to be almost 500 million of people. These online communities and social websites have been developed by developing personalized profiles for the users. These websites allow its users to connect with their family, business associates and friends. The sites of social media have become such entangled in the people's lives that majority of the users are relying completely upon these websites (Pernisco, 2010).

Social media's importance

In today's society, social media has achieved significance through immediately linking groups mutually in order to exchange their ideas and thoughts on personal opinions and current events. People are able to express their ideas, thoughts and pictures to their family, business associates and friends. Almost everyone has an account on Twitter or Facebook and the number of users is growing because more people are gaining comfort with the capability of conversing online (Pernisco, 2010).\

Social media is also playing an efficient role in marketing which helps in enhancing the business performance and productivity. Businesses are transferring their information regarding their services or products more widespread and more frequently than ever before.

Society without social media

If social media is removed, then the society would be affected by immediate shock and similar to drug withdrawal.
