History of Internet

In the year of 1969, Arpanet was the very first invention in real network. It was networks that use to run on a technology called the packet switching technology. In the year of 1969, On October 29 precisely, the computers at Stanford and UCLA were connected to Arpanet for the very first time. They became the first hosts of Arpanet and little did they know that one day it will become the Internet. The first message expected to be sent was Login but it crashed on the letter “g”.

In the year of 1969, another milestone was made with the invention of UNIX. UNIX is said to be an operating system which is heavily based on Linux along with FreeBSD. These are the operating systems that are used today in creating web servers of web hosting. In the year of 1970 Arpanet network was developed and implemented amidst Harvard, MIT, and BBN. It was the company that first developed the message processor and many computers used to connect to it.

In the year of 1971, the concept of Emailing was developed by Ray Tomlinson. Tomlinson was the one who implemented the decision of utilizing the symbol @ to create a distinction between the username from the computer. The computer name was later changed into the domain name. In the year of 1971, an outstanding development of Project Gutenberg took place. This project was an effort which made books as well as articles and important documents to be available instantly virtually for free. The books were available in the electronic format. It was Michael Hart who realized that the future of computers lies with information storage, searching for information as well as instant retrieval. He also introduced the concept of online libraries. Michael manually typed in the Declaration of Independence and launched Project of Gutenberg to make an electronic presence of books. It was termed as eBook.

In the year of 1972, the country France initiated its own Arpanet oriented project and they called it Cyclades. Cyclades was then shut down but it did trigger towards a vital idea that the host computer should have the responsibility of data transmission as well along with network. In the year of 1973; Arpanet was able to make its very first trans-Atlantic connection. It was sable to do so with the collaboration of the University of London. In the same year the concept of Email prevailed over the Arpanet for about 75 percent.

In the year of 1974 the concept of proposal was introduced to link networks like Arpanet with "inter-network". The characteristic it had was absence of central control and it would work with transmission control protocol. Later on it became TCP/IP. In the year of 1975, the first email program was made by John Vittal was a programmer. He made the biggest technology based advancement called MSG. He invented the concept of “Reply" and "Forward" options.
