Accessibility of Websites for Colour Blind people

Methodology Chapter Three

1.1Introduction

Webster's Dictionary defined methodology as “a branch of philosophy dealing with the science of method or procedure” (p. 628). The research is based on the accessibility of websites for colour blind people. The cause of colour blindness is a defect in light-sensitive receptors located in the central part of the retina called "cones". There are three types of cones, each of which is responsible for the perception of one of the colours: red, green and blue, of which builds up the human eye perception of all other colours.

1.2Research Design

This research is based on the secondary data. The research methodology used is the survey of various websites practices as available online. This research involved studies in detail the news, articles from journals, and online material available on the web. Using the methodology tested in previous studies, this study began with a broad review of the literature. This research also includes different comments of color blind people and conclusions are based on the secondary data.

The methodology used for the purpose of this research is based on the secondary data. This research is more or less based on the literature review and the conclusions are drawn on the basis of actual resources listed in the references.

The method of investigation used consists of a theoretical framework of secondary data by reviewing the current position of the accessibility of websites by blind people. Using secondary data as a basis for conclusion will therefore aim to ensure the reliability and validity of this research by demonstrating how the accessibility of websites for blind people can affect their web visits.

Secondary research was conducted through a number of sources, including libraries and the Internet. A number of libraries were visited for gathering valuable data from textbooks and journals. The Internet was also a major tool in obtaining relevant information, leading to the search for a number of articles in journals and newspapers from database.

To prove the research hypothesis, a survey was conducted through a three-step process: construction of an item pool, validation of the items, and pilot testing of the items.

Also the data has been gathered through various sources out of which some are on line while some are on paper.

The outcome of this project is the results of a content analysis of online resources. The research involved analyzing the news postings on the web over a period of years. The analysis consisted of reading the title, and body or abstract of each article posted. Then, each article was qualified and placed in the body of the report, including the research collected.

1.2.1Purpose of Research

The purpose of this research is to locate and identify the ways and to improve the accessibility of websites for colour blind people. This research is not just the act of analysing a simple question but a complex process involving a lot of research and planning. Thus, sufficient relevant information must be gathered in order to deduce a ...
