Although there are several reason for which the Zayed University student should not buy that laptop, some important among them are briefly discussed below;

First of all the hardware technology used to build that Dell Latitude E6400 has become old over these years, there are more powerful computers currently available in the market at a reasonable price. For example, the process used in that machine is an old family P9500 with the FSB speed of only 1066 MHz, whereas the present generation of Intel processors has more FSB thereby resulting in better performance and enhanced I/O operations. Alternatively , the student can buy laptop with Intel third generation (Ivy Bridge technology), that have more power and advanced I/O access technology to support higher number of calculations per second, multi-threading and hyper threading support, and more cores per processor.

Regarding the type of physical memory installed in the said laptop, it supports the DDR2 technology with the bus speed of only 800 MHz, whereas the modern motherboards are built upon DDR3 technology with the bus speed of up to 1633 MHz, which is a huge difference in terms of memory performance and capacity to execute larger programs at a higher speed. Instead the student should look for new laptops with DDR3 memory installed and preferably working at 1633 MHz. This would result in better performance especially when working with large programs.

As for the hard disk drive installed in the Latitude E6400, it can only stores data theoretically up to 160 gigabytes and the amount of real data that can be stored on that HDD is less than the actual size of hard disk. Today there different products from different vendors available at nearly the same price but having HDDs offering much more data storage capacities. The student should buy new laptop with ...
