The major problem in the field of nursing is the drastic nursing professionals' shortage. This is perhaps the reason behind an increased workload that results in job dissatisfaction and increased turnover. In order to trounce this shortage, it is vital to understand the reasons behind it. The elimination of these causes can help in overcoming the nursing staff deficiency and improve nurse retention.

It is essential to evaluate the prevalence of the nursing shortage in the United States. For this purpose, a research can be conducted. This research can involve the Semi-structured interviews with the nursing professionals that are currently working in clinical settings. The interviews should incorporate question regarding the reasons behind their job dissatisfaction, the degree of workload and how they think nursing shortage can be eliminated.
