Systematic Review and Synthesis

Introduction

This paper aims to review and synthesize five articles on the basis of their qualitative and quantitative evidences. The duties of Nurses are varied as they play the roles as an educator, a clinician and have greater experience in their practice. This paper will review the changes that have taken place in different aspects of nursing in the last twenty years of time. Further, an understanding that the treatment of Post Traumatic Disorder is more effective with therapy than drugs (anti-psychotic drugs).Further, the paper takes into account the challenges faced by nurses in easing the transition from clinician to academic where staff stays divided in their primary roles and secondly, the ignorance of the health professionals responsibilities towards students during clinical practices.

Discussion

The research and development in skills of analytical thought and writing has increased the academic practice in nursing. There are many issues that are faced by nurses who are working with their patients with HIV/AIDS. The nurses have aligned their responsibilities and functions which are related with behaviors of their patients. These include the observance of their medical regimes and the influence that have on their personal life. This area requires the nurses to have a full control of their practice and using the necessary response in checking the disease pattern and symptom management (Evans, 2002). Further, the studies have shown that nurses engage in preventive self-care. Some have questioned the reason behind nurses not getting immunization vaccine for influenza. This leads many studies that want to determine the behavior, beliefs and perceptions and costs associated with changing these factors of patients when health professionals are at a high risk of catching the disease. The centers for disease control and prevention recommend that health professionals must be immunized to influenza so that the exposure is limited to other patients (Thomas et al, 1999). Previously, several outbreaks have been reported in Australia in the year 2000. The research showed that vectors were mainly responsible for transmitting it to other. Despite great concerns, there were failures to vaccine the adequate numbers of nurses due to their beliefs and knowledge of the vaccine (Harbarth et al, 1998). This was the same in other countries like New Zealand where 45% of the nurses did not believe in immunization and did not feel that they should be recommended. The study showed that nurses was more reluctant to use immunization of influenza than any other virus and those who had previously received a vaccine had a greater likelihood of receiving it again.

The studies that were conducted in the previous researches show that post traumatic disorder is conudtced much better with therapy rather than use of the anti-psychotic drugs. The research conducted in this regard showed positive outcomes for such ways. The studies conducted by many authors relate their findings and have shown that use of drugs only makes them prone to the drug rather then improving their mental condition.
