Article 1: Debra J. Amaroet al (2006)

This study is conducted by Debra J in the year 2006. Followings are the main finding of the study.

Problem: In nursing program, there exist perceived barriers for those who are ethnically diversified.

Purpose: In this article Amaro (2006), aims as the qualitative research study that has been examined the apparent issues and also the factors which facilitated or hindered ethnically diverse students' finishing their nursing education.

Design: This study is built over a large qualitative study that has been conducted in the year 1996, by Yoder. Grounded theory methodology was being used for the purpose of data analysis. The research question was designed and interviewed from 17 ethnically diverse RNs. These were actually recruited in encountering the researcher's worksites or by using the database for RN that was graduated from five credited nursing programs in the central coastal valley.

Summary and findings:

In this article, the importance of efficient teaching strategies and methods for ethnically diverse students is highlighted. Seventeen participants were interviewed through open ended questionnaire. The sample consists all the graduates from ethnic minority RN's of the Central coastal valley of California. This minority sample was consisting of ethnic background of Asian, African-American, Latino and Portuguese. This study has found out different barriers which diversified nursing graduates encounter or might encounter during the completion of their nursing graduate program. This study also pointed out different steps to implement the scientific methods of research and derives evidences of a scientific nature and this study has also assisted in prevailing biomedical model during its inception. The data also revealed those supportive factors which have helped ethnically diversified students in coping the existing barriers. In addition, the evidences based on nursing industry have been presented in this article, which ranges from evidences based on medicine up to the nursing efforts for those that are dedicated to the evidence studies in trying to find an adequate definition for the discipline (Debra, 2006). The decision-making requires both knowing and managing the elements and the stages that make evidence-based practice as well as barriers and strategies presented in its implementation.

Summarizing the finding of this study, it is stated that the US population is witnessing the surge in diversification of population. Therefore, it is important to reduce the barriers and ethnicity related issues of these nursing graduates so that they can care well the challenging and diversified population. This study also highlights the role of teacher and educators while interacting with culturally diversified student. Many students argued that they are being discriminated on racism and on other prejudices during their nursing program. It brings positive results for students if their queries and problems are adequately responded by educators and it brings negative impact on ethnically diversified students, in cases where educators fail to respond satisfactorily.
