In their longitudinal study, Edin & Kefalas (2005) conducted research on over 162 unmarried women with children living in impoverished urban areas. This article discussed the case of Jen who dropped out of high school because of becoming pregnant with her twenty year old boyfriend Rick. Jen was not a bright student and was physically active only a month after getting her periods. She also indulged in drugs and drinking with her friends.
