Introduction

Profession of health care is considered as very noble profession across the globe; however, in United States of America this profession has given primary importance, as the government believes that growth of the country is dependent of the efficiency and health of its citizens(Becker et al, 2004). In order to achieve the objective of healthier American the government has introduced numerous innovative technologies that have provided citizen with the treatment of diseases that were previously considered as incurable. In addition to numerous innovative technologies, the government of the country has amended its legal structure in such a manner that provides assurance that proper and adequate health care services would be given to citizen across the country (Kirchhoff & Kowalkowski, 2010). Majority of the health care center are working according to the rules and regulations set by the government, and regulating health authorities, as for these institutes providence of proper patient care is their primary responsibility.

Despite of innovative techniques and new legal reforms frequent cases of substandard patient care has been reported from across the country. (Porter & Teisberg, 2007) in one of his study has explained that several factors like, shortage of professional healthcare, unequal distribution of wealth, prevailing economic crises, increasing concept of discrimination, and others are mainly responsible for frequent occurrence of substandard patient care. This paper will provide detail analysis of substandard patient care with person example, and will explain the relation of substandard care with the concept of quality care

Discussion

Healthcare service is mainly known for its quality and such substandard practices are not only deteriorating the quality of healthcare services, but is also responsible for declining trust of citizens on this noble profession. People normally visit healthcare services to reduce the level of pain that is affecting their life but sorry to say that every condition does not have a successful conclusion.

Almost every health care organization must stay away from providing substandard care services to patients that are coming to their center for assistance and help. Meanwhile, researcher (Restum, 2005) has defined the concept of improper and ineffective care (substandard care) as “failing to achieve desired outcomes because of incapability of dealing with the situation”. In simple terms, that concept of substandard care for the patient could be providence of service below the actual standard.

As discussed above that numerous factors results in the occurrence of substandard patient care, however, improper circumstances has the potential of indulging family of patient to their worst behavior that can make the matter worse, and some time it becomes the reason of revenge that later on result in occurrence of severe crime. On the other hand, scarcity of employees in healthcare center like (nurses, pre medical staff, and others) is believe as another important factor that could lead to substandard patient care.
