Strategy for Future Leaders

Introduction

The two core fundamental values of organizations are leadership and strategy. They both differ from each other in their approach. The strategy sets the path which acts as a guiding source for the organization in the long term and helps it in achieving the advantage which goes on to set it apart from its competition in an utterly challenging g environment (Casadesus & Ricart, 2010, p.201). However, without leadership, strategy is futile. This is because leaderships refers to the act of coordinating the resources owned by the organization in such a way that it not only goes on to achieve the goals and objectives set by the organization, but does it in an incredibly effective manner (Ulrich, et. al., 2012, p. 10). In this essay, I have talked about the decision making process pertaining to the two focal issues, strategy and leadership, such that it helps the business make optimal decisions. For this purpose, different ideologies and philosophies of management have been analyzed, and at various occasions, a mixture of these philosophies is developed to suit according to the situation.

Discussion

An effective leadership and strategic planning is the key ingredient to ensuring success for any business. Organizations around the world heavily depend upon capable leaders to guide them through the misery towards being one of the exemplary companies. However, leaders alone cannot do anything as long as strategies are not there for them to act as a guiding light (O'Reilly, et. al., 2010, p. 107). One of the major issues of the modern world is the dynamic environment, which continues to evolve on a daily basis. For this purpose, it becomes imperative for an organization to adapt itself according to the changing demands of the environment. A failure to do this might and have resulted in drastic losses for some of the most renowned companies in the world. Until and unless strategic plans are not developed in a way which incorporates the uncertain future ahead, an organization cannot guarantee success for itself (Willmott & Alvesson, 2012, p. 13). However, in some cases, even though the companies have developed proper strategic plans incorporating the uncertain future ahead, they still haven't succeeded. In this case, the problem lies with leadership. Thus, it is important for both these aspects to run parallel.

The situation

The modern world of business environment is radically redefined by globalization. In order to incorporate the changes brought about by globalization, major strategic shifts are being made to adjust to these changes (Paton & McCalman, 2008, pp. 10-12). Though, many might see this change as a challenge, but a large amount of organizations around the world look at this as an opportunity to grow and prosper. In this era of great change, the need is to develop strategies which revolve around the fundaments of innovation so that the rapid pace of change is adhered.

In my understanding, an organization which is not rigid but flexible, does not involve a lot ...
