The protests took place by almost a year in which discreet diplomacy role was played by Saudi Arabia. After which Salih stepped down from presidency and all powers were given to Abd Rabbuh Mansur al-Hadi who was vice-president. The aim of Saudi Arabia was not only to control terrorism by their military instead they focused on each and every citizen by arranging religious programs. By such strategies, Saudi Arabia was able to control the mindset of people and was motivated to perform modern activities in the time period of globalization.
