Introduction

A pattern of goals across an organization, in order to achieve all its goals successfully, should direct the perception of the managers and administrators at every level since they collaboratively coordinate their efforts. This pattern is an incorporated set of actions and commitments throughout the organization which assist its employees in being focused towards the accomplishment of the organizational goals. It results in the accomplishments of the organization which make them stand out amongst its competitors, that is, the organization performs in novel and different ways and produces better and enhanced outcomes. The desired outcome, when applied on a regular basis, is a competitive advantage, and an efficient as well as optimum employment of the entire resources and abilities in the company. This research encompasses the concept of strategic thinking, its association with its content, its process, and the content.

Strategic Thinking

Strategic thinking is initiated by trying to make sense of the external and internal setting of an organization. One or more problems or issues surface from this sense making procedure. The individuals thinking strategically prepare a huddle of interconnected plans on a frequent basis, making amendments and regulations when required. This pattern of taking actions and thinking is not a onetime procedure; it is a continuous process instead. Strategic problems or issues may appear at any time, with the rapid emergence of the requirement for strategic decisions or adjusting actions (Bonn, 2005).

Strategic thinking emphasizes on looking for and creating distinctive prospects for creating value by facilitating a creative and proactive dialogue amongst individuals who may impact the direction of an organization. Strategic thinking serves as the input to strategic planning. Excellent strategic thinking unveils latent prospects for producing value and defies the stipulations regarding the value proposition of an organization so that when a plan is devised, then these prospects are targeted by that plan. Strategic thinking is a means for realizing the significant drivers of a business and austerely defying the traditional perception regarding them, discussing with others (Pisapia, 2009).

Strategic Thinking and Values

Those strategic decisions which actually impact the entire organization, made not be taken exclusive of all the other decisions made by the organization or its stakeholders, like competitors, customers, and suppliers. It may be argued that strategic thinking begins at the level of personal values. The personal values greatly affect the decisions made by the decisions makers despite of those made by the organization as a whole. Personal values count in making decisions regarding right or wrong, good or bad. Values affect the way upper level management views their organization and their market. Personal values are similar to the colored lenses that are employed by the strategic decision makers to see the major issues faced by the industry and the organization.
