Introduction

This report is based on Limkokwing University, which is a Malaysian University with a global presence across three different continents. In this report, we will discuss aspects of Strategic Management of Limkowing University and how it established its excellent reputation.

Linkokwing is a renowned university with more than 30,000 students belonging to various countries study in Limkokwing University. It has a total of 12 campuses in China, Indonesia, Bostwana, Lesotho, Compodia, Malaysia, United Kindgom and Swaziland. It has a world wide recognition, and it has earned the reputation of the best institutes.

The University was established in 1991 and has been sensitive to the market demands. The aim of the university has always been to prepare their graduates in such a way that transform them from their classroom to workplace in an orderly manner. The university focused on the subject of creative technology, which is the need of an hour. It also established strong links with other renowned universities of USA and UK to enhance its image, and update its curriculum accordingly.

Industry Competition

Public and Private Universities both offer higher education in Malaysia. However, the majority of higher education is provided by public institution, but private education also provide quality education and assistance to the government, as it provides education at an affordable fee. Higher education in Malaysia began with the formation of University Malaya in 1959. To date, twenty public universities have been established in Malaysia, it caters to the needs of the students and also provide assistance to business and industry. However, the public institutions find it difficult to overcome the overall increase in demand of higher education in Malaysia. The private colleges began to emerge in Malaysia in the early 1980's. Approximately 600 private higher education institutes including eleven private universities are now working in Malaysia. Polytechnics have also been established apart from public universities, and private universities. There were established by the government in 1969 to provide education and training in specialized fields (Lee, K.H., Quek, A.H., & Chew, S.B, 2000, pp. 15-22). The steps taken by the government in late 70s and 80s, helped the higher education sector achieved its goals to some extent. It also gave way to a healthy competition that gradually increased the quality of education in Malaysia.

Malaysia's liberal approach to higher education provides a host of opportunities for people from various parts of the world to come closer to acquire knowledge at affordable prices. Malaysian colleges have been able to offer foreign academic programmes from established universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, US and Canada to students from a number of other countries. This way, Malaysia has become a "middle man" in the provision of higher education.
