Introduction

The roles as well as responsibilities of the various professionals and experts do not only keep changing with the passage of time, but they are also strengthened and specified with the increase in specialization and the increase in need for having specific people for particular purposes. It should be noted that a few years back, the concept of specialization was not as specified and same person was assigned various tasks, depending more on his capabilities than his qualifications. However, the situation is different these days and there are specialized and trained professionals available for various tasks. It is due to the same reason that the field of management has also been defined and specified by now and there are more professionals and experts available for performing various tasks. The same applies in the field of Human Resource and the HR professionals are strategically supporting organizations in terms of short, medium and long term planning. The following paragraphs highlight the responsibilities of the HR professionals and also focus on the part played by them in the various forms of planning:

Strategic Role of Human Resource Professionals

The debate and discussion regarding the roles and responsibilities of the human resource managers in the strategic planning for an organization is both essential and significant, and is playing an important role in assisting the concerned individuals in getting information about their duties. It is eminent to mention here that in some of the cases, the senior managers believe that the human resource managers are only responsible for the recruitment purpose and need to keep a check on the hiring of individuals and managing the employees. However, the functions and role of the human resource managers is much more diverse and requires variety of skills as well as qualifications, thus assisting the organizations in accomplishing long, medium and short term strategic goals.

It is eminent to mention here that the human resource professionals are playing an essential part in the determination of the strategic goals and plans, and the advances in technology is also playing an essential part in the transfer of focus from manpower to the man-hours. This imples that the phenomenon is being associated with the brainpower possessed by the individuals and the brains hours spent in utilizing and implementing that. The shift has also caused a change in the processes and procedures of management and now the human resource management has shifted from production and quantity to quality and productivity, thus focusing more on the quality of work performed instead of the mere amount of work performed in the given time period (Price, 2011, Pp: 236). Due to the same reason, the human resource professionals are now taking steps to make sure that the employees are burdened only in accordance with their capabilities and capacities and not beyond that, thus ensuring that the employees are able to comply with their job description and work load.
