Monumental Drift: Europe's Many Midpoints

Geographers, politicians and tourists have question and continue to wonder what exactly the midpoint of Europe is. The answer depends on whether we suppose Europe as a mere continent or a political project. The map tries to present seven center points of Europe, based on a wide range of claims from that of 18th century Polish astronomer Szymon Sobiekrajski claiming Suchowola (53°34'36?N, 23°6'6?E) to be the geographic centre through Napoleon's proclaimed Dylen and later Braunau am Inn (Austria).
