The case study of Westar hotel is considered for the statistical analysis. The Westar hotel comprises of 250 rooms and the hotel is located in a resort place of Colorado Rockies. It has two lounges under its premises area. The lounges are the Pour Nous Lounge and a Pub-style lounge. These are very well maintained lounges and certainly give an extraordinary look. They have about a seating capacity of 50 and also a 200 seat arrangement for night club.
It is not a very big hotel so its analysis could be a little easy and also its mechanism could be easy to understand. Being a small hotel the reservation problems always occur in the hotel, therefore advance reservations are done by the people. The hotel, due to a little less investment always faces problems in adjusting its customers in their premises. Especially when they offer promotional food during their happy hours, the presence of extra customers is a big issue for them (McGraw Hill, 2009).
At Westar hotel several promotional campaigns of food are offered for the customer to attract and retain them. Especially on the occasions of different events and ceremonial practices Westar launches promotional offers. But since a year Westar has not been offering promotional food offers and in order to cut cost and increase profit it is now focusing on reduction in costs by decreasing offers, discontinuation of piano player, and some other decisions (McGraw Hill, 2009).
In this study emphasis is given to how to improve performance of Westar hotel and what are the key strategies through which Westar can cut cost without losing customer retention and as well as increasing customer satisfaction. Industry analysis and current scenario of hotel industry is significant to make the right strategies regarding how Westar can get competitive advantage over its competitors and it can manage to entertain more and more customer in the load season. Westar hotel, due to little in size and capacity, has many disadvantages as compare to those who are big and leading the industry, with respect to customer attraction, cost of doing business, and revenues.
Data collection and data types
The data used in this study is collected from the e-book of case studies. The data was gathered by the researcher and it was completely scaled and numerical because the variables used in this study are related to sales and all the data required for the analysis should not be nominal. The data collection procedure used in the study as discussed by the researcher was totally data based. No qualitative research was done with the data because nothing qualitative was required for the analysis (Ronald M.weiers, 2010).
