Political Structure of New York

The political structure of New York is extraordinary as compared to the other states. It is consisted of five boroughs namely Manhattan, Queens , Brooklyn, Staten Island and lastly The Bronx. Every borough is connected with the respective counties of New York State. Manhattan is connected to New York County, Brooklyn is of Kings County, Queens is enacted with Queens County, and Staten Island is connected to Richmond County while The Bronx belongs to Bronx County. In the year 1898, the current organizational form was adopted by the New York City. The consolidation of New York City in to the current organizational structure abolished the former local government structure. The present government of New York City is more centralized and unified. However, every county keep hold of its own district attorney for prosecution of crimes. Mostly the court system is organized on the counties. (www.dls.state.va.us, 2012)

The constitution of New York is also divided in to three branches following the constitution of United States; the executive, judicial and the legislative branch. The executive branch's responsibility is to carry out the laws proposed by the legislative branch; while the judicial branch is consisted of courts prosecuted by the judges.
