Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the relationship between state and class. The relationship between the state and classes is a significant one. State is in the position to derive such policies that work in the favor of reducing the class differences and making the whole society better off. Moreover, the increasing poverty in our nation becomes the sole problem of the social issues our society is facing. The efforts of the state must reflect an aim to reduce vast gaps in resources between different groups along with the efforts for easy access to resources for all the state classes.

The role of the state in determining the social classes is assumingly significant. The prevalence of various social classes in today's world is undoubtedly surprising and discomforting. Untied States being one of the wealthiest nations of the world is also faced with the problems of various class differences because of increased poverty and unemployment. The perspective of Marx in relation with the relationship between state and class is important. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between state and class and to make the reader aware about the various bitter aspects of modern democracy.

Discussion

State in the capitalist society is usually seen in the perspective of Marx. The literature present about the autonomy of the state is not significant enough for the purpose of determining the degree of autonomy of the state in a capitalist society. Moreover, the scope of the state actions impacts the society and the prevailing classes. The intended purpose of the autonomy of the state for the classes is an important factor to consider. The relationship between state and class can be characterized as a relation of 'partnership.' This relationship is assumed to have the characteristics of partnership because state and class are two different forces which intend to be linked together by various threads within the society (Dunleavy & O'Leary, 1987).

State and class are two different objects having their own respective domains and areas of concerns. Moreover, the capitalist societies usually observe a dominant relationship between the state and the class thud concluding the relationship as a partnership one. However, the relationship of partnership is not always constant which means the relationship is constantly changing according to the varying situations. The relationship between state and class is immensely impacted by the external forces and certainly the state of class usually struggles. Both the forces within this partnership assume to enjoy the same level of power (Dahl, 1971 Pp. 30-35).

The capitalism perspective requires the state to focus more on the reduction of class pressures and social tensions. Due to the shortcomings and underline assumptions of capitalism, state is assumed to defend the social orders and classes for the purpose of reducing the class pressures that usually creates varying social tensions.
