Company operates its operations with more than 35,000 employees. It is listed on London Stock Exchange. Through its operations company carries around three million passengers per day. Stagecoaches operate with 10,600 coaches and buses and 2,200 train services a day (Stagecoach Group, 2013).

History

In 1976, Stagecoach started its operation from Perth with small self-driven caravan and rental buses in the area. In mid of 1980 the company started school bus service. After acquiring A&C of McLennan of Spittalfield, Stagecoach entered into regular operation of bus service.

Stagecoach expanded its operation in outside of Scotland and acquired number of companies in the south of UK and also shown interest in the subsidiaries of National Bus Company privatization. The company expanded more significantly during the deregulation and privatization of transport sector. Company was listed on London Stock Exchange in 1993. In 1997, company acquired 49 percent share of Virgin Rail Group (Stagecoach Group, 2013).

In UK, the division carries around 986 million passengers in a year with 7,900 coaches and buses. It is connecting 100 cities and towns with its operation and employs 22,500 employees in its UK division.

Their operation in UK extends from Islands and Highlands of Scotland to South West England. Major cities in which Stagecoach operates is London, Liverpool, Manchester, Hull, Newcastle, Oxford, Cambridge and Sheffield.
