Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an analysis on the staffing issues of any company. The company selected in this paper is Tesco PLC. Tesco is a significant international retailer. As a global business, the company perceives itself as having a vital role to play in helping to minimize its environmental impacts. Although based in the United Kingdom, Tesco PLC has developed into an international grocery and general merchandising chain, employing 440,000 staff worldwide and with sales exceeding £59 billion (in the year ending February 2009). Operating income exceeded £3 billion. These figures make Tesco the largest British retailer in terms of both combined sales and domestic market share, and the third largest in the world after Wal-Mart (United States) and Carrefour (France). It is claimed that £1 in every £7 of UK retail sales goes the way of Tesco.

Statement of Problem

Every company faces different issues and challenges in terms of human resources. The challenges in human resource can be in terms of the retention, recruitment and selection and the reductions due to the budget constraints. Just like the other companies, Tesco also faces unusual problems in terms of staffing issues. The staffing planning process has four stages of action planning process (Walton, 2005). When gaps between requirements and availabilities happen to staff objectives have made to deal with the problem at hand. The plan is to ready company members for a work force that is diverse and to develop human resource programs that will successfully acquire, manage, and retain a work force that is diverse. Human resource planning and staffing is an important element in any Human Resource Department. Without proper planning employers could find themselves in a predicament where there are too many employees or not enough. Implementing staffing plans will help any organization be ready for whatever is to come whether it is tomorrow or five years from now. As with any plan revision should be done as needed to ensure the plan is the right fit for that time.

Proposed Budget in Staffing Plan

In order to develop a staffing plan, Tesco has set a budget. Tesco ahs designed this budget in order to deal with the staffing issues.

Number of Personnel

In order to set the staffing issues and remove these issues, Tesco has developed a staffing plan. The number of personnel selected in this staffing plan is 700 employees in each unit.

Position Description

The staff is at managerial position. The main duty of this position is to manage the duties and requirements of the other supervisors and staff properly. The managers will be responsible in order to manage the issues in the company, and overlook all the problems associated with the company and staff.
