Introduction

Power is a possession of influence or authority over others within any organization. It's a tool which can encourage, either positive or negative outcomes in organizations; however, it depends upon the usage. Social scientists John French and Bertrand Raven formulated the five sources of power in organizations. The first three sources of power have resulted from the position of the power-holder and the individual gets these powers due to particular authority or influence within organizations. While the rest have been derived from the characteristics of the power-holder. (McShane, Von Glinow & Sharma, 2008).
