Jimi Hendrix possessed a powerful rhythm guitar approach. He was able to beautifully design and integrate both the rhythm and lead guitar along with accommodating the fact he was in a three-piece band. This paper will analyze three elements of his song “Purple Haze” which was written in 1966 by the singer himself and its first version was on January 11, 1967 in DeLane studios (Gelfand, and Piccoli, 2009). The three elements under which it will be analyzed are Rhythm, Tone, and Harmony.
