Sociology is defined as the study of functioning, development and structuring of human society. It uses empirical investigation and critical analysis to study about the problems of the society. Sociology aims to explain how people see the society they live in and how they interact among themselves. It helps to frame the knowledge about the social actions of human beings, their functions and social structure. The one who practices the concept of sociology is known as sociologist. The main aim of the sociologist is to understand the concept of social welfare and to help frame social policies that treat each individual of the society equally.
The sociologist chosen for this assignment is Edward Franklin Frazier, as he was the pioneer for the black sociology studies that aimed to struggle for the rights of African Americans. This paper will try to highlight how the views of Frazier align with my personal views.

Frazier was born on 24th September, 1894, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was one of the five children of James H. Frazier, a bank messenger, and Mary Clark Frazier who was a housewife. Frazier was best acknowledged for his significant work on black middle class, and as the great inhibitor of the American Dream for black people of America. He died on 17th May, 1962 (Cswe.org, 2013).
He was the fist American sociologist who was black, and whose work on African American social structure highlighted many problems affecting the black community. His research rested on the basis that black Americans had equal rights to participate in the democracy as white Americans. His research also critiqued racist research which argued for biological passivity in explaining the low achievement.
