Introduction

An urban place is the concentration of people whose lifestyles revolve around or are organized around non-agricultural activities (www.learnersdictionary.com). The vital characteristic existing is that urban means non-agricultural oriented activities (www.reference.com). Urbanization occurs when increasing proportion of a population live in cities rather than in the rural areas. Usually, urban is defined by base line of size, like 2500 people.

Urban Problem Description

One major problem faced by most of the people living in the urban areas is unemployment. Since recession has hit the entire world, Unemployment has risen everywhere not just in US. There are many reasons besides recession that has led to job loss or unemployment. Firstly, organizations and corporations shift to suburb areas because of lower income, lower tax rates and weaker unions. Since getting a job is difficult, people who had high income eventually resort to lower income oriented jobs. Secondly, Technological advancements or breakthroughs have consequently led to automation in the production aspect resulting in higher unemployment rate. Thirdly, Temping is a major issue that has boosted the rate of unemployment. Temping is the process of hiring people on contractual or part-time basis. Employers are resorting to Temping because it can save them the hassle of providing high salaries, training, gratuity, health care cost and pension costs.US State with High Unemployment and its Characteristics

The state that has the highest employment rate is Nevada with an unemployment rate of 13.4% (www.bls.gov). Nevada is a state that is in west side of the mountainous of the United States. The characteristics of Nevada's population include Mexicans at 20.9%, Germans being 13.3%, Irish at 10%, English at 9.2%, Italian being at 6.4%, Americans at 3.8% and Scandinavians at 3.6%.

Uniqueness about this state is that it was the first state through which US discovered its first silver pre deposits under the Virginia City back in 1859. The test side of Nevada is at a distance of 105 km situated in the northwest of the city of Las Vegas. It was found on January 11, 1951. It is used for testing the nuclear weapons.
